This Giant Airwolf RC Helicopter Uses a Real Cockpit Setup—Cyclic, Collective, and Pedals

A giant Airwolf RC helicopter is already an excellent way to make a normal radio transmitter look painfully boring. This setup goes a tad further: the pilot sits in a chair-mounted cockpit controller, moves a cyclic with the right hand, works a collective with the left, and flies the black-and-white helicopter like he’s an extra from an ’80s action series.

The footage shows the aircraft hovering just above the ground before making slow, controlled movements. The lucky operator is seated low to the ground and fastened to a custom black metal frame, with a small action camera pointed back at the pilot.

The H17 Turns RC Helicopter Controls Into a Cockpit

The H17 Cockpit Controller, marketed by Razordon, is a 17-channel system designed with its controls similar to those found in a real helicopter. The cyclic control on the right manages both direction and attitude, while the left control adjusts lift and power, and the yaw control is operated with foot pedals. The control range includes 0 to 20 degrees for the collective, plus or minus 15 degrees for the cyclic, and a yaw range of plus or minus 30 degrees for the pedals.

This is not a lightweight game accessory for just anyone to pick up and play with. According to Razordon, it features a CNC-machined alloy structure, hydraulic dampers, customizable pedal and control-stick positions, a foldable mounting system, USB-C simulator compatibility, and a 3.5-mm trainer input. It has a total weight of 11,000 grams, or approximately 24.3 pounds. Its mount is designed to work with certain square-tube Kermit-style folding chairs, which explains the surprisingly improvised-looking seat in the video.

The hardware runs EdgeTX and includes a built-in 2.4-GHz ELRS module. Razordon also lists external-module support for DSM and JP4IN1 systems. Priced at $2,799.99, with the initial production run now sold out, the likely expensive but subsequent batch is expected to be available in mid-to-late September 2026.

The Airwolf Is Large Enough

The 800-Class Airwolf by Razordon is a six-channel, ready-to-fly scale model helicopter featuring a fiberglass construction and an H1 PRO flight controller. With a length of 127 centimeters, or around 50 inches, it looks like something closer to a professional drone over a conventional toy. Its main rotor blades measure 750 millimeters and are made from carbon fiber – very nice.

Power comes from an Align 800MX 490KV brushless motor, a Hobbywing 180A electronic speed controller and torque-tube tail drive, while it also featured retractable landing gear, navigation lights, and an illuminated scale cockpit. Battery comes in the form of two 5,000-mAh 6S LiPo units. Razordon weighs the mechanical portion at 10 kilograms and the fuselage at 9 kilograms, for a combined 19 kilograms, or about 41.9 pounds, before anything additional is added.

The H1 PRO supports GPS and BeiDou positioning, altitude and position hold, automatic hovering, and return functionality. The Airwolf listing itself includes a FlySky FS-i6S transmitter and iA6B receiver, so the H17 shown with the helicopter represents a different control setup from that retail package.

The cockpit controller is gloriously excessive, but it kinda makes sense when you’re flying something that’s nearly four feet wide, carries serious rotor hardware, and weighs tens of pounds. Operating it like a miniature helicopter is probably far safer. At least that’s what I’m going to tell my wife.
